1. What we collect
Three things, and nothing else:
Account details
The email address and password you sign up with, and the display name you choose. Sign-in is handled by our identity provider, so we never see your password.
Your runs
Distance, duration, pace, calories, GPS points, start and finish time, and, if you ran a coach-built workout, the plan and how each stage went.
App preferences
Small settings such as your light or dark theme choice and an unfinished run draft. These stay on your device.
2. What we never do
We do not sell or rent your data. There are no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics trackers, and no data brokers involved in Kimbia. We do not ask for your contacts, your photos, or your health records, and we do not track your location when a run is not in progress.
3. Location and GPS
Kimbia asks for location permission because a run tracker cannot work without it. Coordinates are recorded from the moment you tap START until you stop the run, and they are saved with that run so you can see your route afterwards.
Delete a run and its GPS trace goes with it. Deny location permission and everything else in the app still works; you simply will not get a route map.
4. The coach and your data
When you save a run, Kimbia sends a summary of it (distance, duration, pace, workout stages and your recent training pattern) to our cloud service, where we may process your data to provide feedback and suggest improvements for your next workout.
5. What other runners see
Once you complete a run you appear on the weekly and monthly leaderboards under your display name, alongside your total distance for that period. Nothing else is shared: not your routes, not your paces, not your coach insights. Change your display name in the menu at any time.
6. Where it is stored
Your account and runs are held on reputable third-party cloud infrastructure, encrypted in transit and at rest. We work with established providers for hosting, sign-in and the processing behind the coach, and we require each of them to protect your data and to use it only to deliver the service to you. Access inside Kimbia is limited to the small number of people who need it. We keep your data for as long as your account exists, and providers may process it in countries other than your own.
7. Your choices
- Delete a run. Open it and choose Delete this run. It is gone, GPS included.
- Delete your account. From the menu, or by emailing us. Your runs and leaderboard entries go with it.
- Ask for a copy. Email us and we will send your full run history.
- Turn off location. In your phone’s settings, at any time.
Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your data, including the right to object or complain to a regulator. Write to us and we will help.
8. Children
Kimbia is not intended for anyone under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
Kimbia is in beta and the app is still moving. If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and, for anything significant, email everyone in the beta before it takes effect.
10. Contact
Questions, requests, or something here that reads wrong to you: write to privacy@kimbia.run. A person answers.
